THE GENIUS OF MICHELANGELO AND HIS POETRY
Mrs Shirley Smith
Wednesday 22 November 2017

WAITING LIST ONLY

VENUE: The Parish Centre, Dollar street (Gosditch Street), Cirencester GL7 2AG

PRICE: £30 (includes coffee, biscuits & finger buffet lunch)

TIME: 10.30am 3.15pm

ORGANISER: Mrs. Anne Leoni Tel: 01452 812521/ Email: anne.aleoni@gmail.com

Mrs. Smith graduated from the University of East Anglia with first class honours in History of Art. Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and part-time lecturer for the University of East Anglia and for the Department of Continuing Education of the University of Cambridge, she also lectures for the Art Fund and individual clubs and societies. She is particularly keen to set the art and architecture of a period in the context of the society for which it was produced.

Mrs. Smith will offer us her vision of Michelangelo the sculptor, painter, architect and poet. He has come to epitomise the glorious period of the Renaissance and is still today considered one of the greatest artists of the Western world. Yet he lived through times of great upheaval, both personal and political.

We will study the works of Michelangelo, interwoven with quotations from his poetry and set within the context of the major political and religious events in Italy of the 16th century.

In the event of circumstances beyond our control, the Society reserves the right to cancel or rearrange the event, and is unable to guarantee a full refund. A refund will not normally be given if the originator cancels a confirmed booking.

Further details and an application form (to be put on the waiting list) can be downloaded from our Documents page (click the 'About us' tab above).
